How to tell if a dog is pregnant? 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 1
I received an e-mail today asking me how to tell if a dog is pregnant. I have found some information for him. However none of it seemed to help until the dog is about 25 days pregnant. Here is what the person is asking and I was wondering if anyone here has some better information for this person.

Thank you for your time and let me know if you have any better information.

Wow, that's really young for a dog to have puppies... I hope she turned out not to be pregnant...

If you pay attention to your dog's heat cycles, I suppose one of the first signs is that she loses interest in the males or misses a heat cycle, just like us missing a period. When my dog first got pregnant she become a lot more affectionate with the other animals too, but very defensive and quick-tempered with the male dog of the house. She started to gain weight very quickly and her appetite increased very noticeably. Her nipples and breasts didn't start to swell or change their appearance until she was quite a few weeks pregnant though, and then they stayed that way for weeks after she had her puppies. I don't remember much else about it, but if anyone else has any info, I think this would be a good thing to keep for future reference!
